Subject: Student Support During Possible College Support Staff Strike
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Fleming Student Administrative Council (SAC) is preparing to support students during a possible strike by full-time support staff across 24 Ontario colleges, represented by OPSEU. The strike is set to begin Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. if no agreement is reached with the College Employer Council (CEC).
Supporting Students During the Strike
As the student voice on campus, Fleming SAC’s priority is ensuring students are informed, supported, and able to navigate this challenging time:
- Student Wellbeing: SAC will remain open during any labour disruption and continue to provide services, advocacy, and events wherever possible, with adjustments as needed.
- Communication: Students will receive timely updates through their Fleming student email, FlemingSAC.ca, and SAC social media channels.
- Guidance & Resources: SAC will help students understand their rights, navigate potential picket lines respectfully, and access support if they face barriers to participation in classes or campus life.
“We recognize this is a stressful and uncertain time for students,” said Charan Pitla, Board Chair. “Our commitment is to provide clear information and advocate for student needs so they feel supported no matter how this situation unfolds.”
