Fleming Student Administrative Council, (SAC) is looking for the community’s support in finding photos of the Steele Centre.
The Centre will be turning 25 in October and SAC is planning a special video presentation to mark the special event. Named after Iain and Rennie Steele, the Centre has undergone a number of changes over the past quarter century. In its earliest days it was a pub but expanded to include an event space and food service area when the pool was closed.
“The Steele Centre has been a gathering place for students while at school but it has also been host to many private events such as weddings, networking events and holiday parties,” says Alannah Kennedy, Fleming SAC President. “We are looking forward to celebrating this important event.
The Steele Centre is named after Renie and Iain Steele. Iain worked at Fleming from 1967 until his retirement in 1998 and taught various Technology programs. Both Iain and Renie have encouraged leadership opportunities for students and bettering campus life through various bursaries. Mr. Steele passed away in 2017.
