It is the intent to make these water stations present within other colleges. - The SAC board Transition weekend was good, the policies were reviewed as well as all the SAC boards Job descriptions. Changes were made to a few of these policies and descriptions and will be presented later during this meeting. - The Fleming SAC board went to the Frost Campus to join with the SC board in participating in various leadership activities. - The GO Team other wise known as the Green Objective team had a world water day, there they had a display of 365 plastic water bottles which were in clear bags as well as a jar filled with $700 displaying the amount of money wasted each year on a plastic water bottles. - The GO team had an Earth Hour on campus in the soccer field. There they celebrated earth hour and sold Burritos. - Recently there have been some meetings with the architects, they will be sending recommendations soon, there is also to be some more meetings over the summer with the architects. SAC will be re-vamping the quiet lounge by purchasing new couches and painting it. - The athletic banquet is tonight, there will be two $100 bursaries being given to the top female and top male athlete of the year at Fleming College. - Open House will be on April 4th anyone who wants to help is more the welcomed. Report of the Executives 5.01Vice President of Student Affairs Report There have been over 10 appeals this semester alone with those ten appeals there has been a 70% success rate. This week there was a meeting with myself and a consultant, during this meeting I was informed of which way would be the best way to going about handling all the appeals, now there is a set system that will help with the appeals. Transition weekend went really well, a lot was accomplished. Vice President of Finance Report - This position is there to make sure the budget and SAC finances are being watched closely, as well as creating a draft for the New Year. - Anyone who needs assistance is more then welcomed to come and talk. - The draft for the New Year will be handed out later in this meeting. 5.03 Director of Sutherland Campus Report -Reminder that a week from tomorrow is the student representatives banquet. Please RSVP. - Residence carnival is this weekend on April 5th 2009 this will be from 1-4pm, student rep support for this event would be appreciated. - Thank-you for the great year. 5.04 Director of Communications Report - Flat screen TVs have been purchased and decided on where they will be placed. There are now mounts where the TVs will be all around the school, these TVs should be up and running by September. - The Flat Fleming contest went well we had around 14 entries, this contest will be running every semester from now on, this campaign did a good job at bringing people to our website. A few changes have been made to the contest in order for it to work even better the next time around. - SAC is looking to make the Flemingsac.ca interactive; if anyone has any ideas on this they would be greatly appreciated. 5.05 Director of Programming Report - Mini Stick tournaments will continue to be every Thursday as they are working out very well. - There are sign up sheets for pool tournaments all over the school for Wednesday pool tournaments. - Kevin will be taking over all further programming. 5.06 General Managers Report 5.07 Student Government Liaisons Report Expanding Student life is what we are trying to accomplish. There will be a new position at the college; this position is called the Student Success officer. This position will be a hired position. This individual should be hired within the next two weeks. Emerging student leaders will be a new program; this will be a certificate program. The emerging student leaders program went well at Frost Campus, this program would be great to add to a resume as well as help in other positions. The Peer mentoring program will be starting up in September of 2009 There will be many opportunities to get involved in many things throughout the year one of those events being orientation week. The summer position will be up tomorrow; this position will have direct involvement in orientation week and welcome days at the college. This position is awaiting the budget before it is posted. Operations Manager Report Topics up for Discussion Old Business New Business Policy and Bylaw Approvals - All of the policy and bylaw changes were read aloud to everyone in the meeting, as well as informing the people present that they can find these changes again on www.Flemingsac.ca. Each of the policy and Bylaws motions were read. -The minutes will be posted on the SAC website if anyone would like to go and look at them at any time, or you can find them in the SAC office. Budget - This budget draft was handed out to everyone present at the meeting so they could look over it and ask questions if they have any. - Jeff James explained the budget, as well as explaining the fact that these numbers are not exact they are an estimation based on prior years, they may also be subject to change. - Some of the numbers have been increased as well as some of the numbers have been decreased for this budget. - The goal of the draft budget is to try and get the budget as close as possible to being exact. - The Steele center is shown separately on the budget because it is easier to be displayed that way so that we can keep good track of the Steele Center as well. Round Table Jay Kiefer brought up the fact that SAC needs to improve their advertising. Ryan Kirby answered this with. Saying that, advertising is the main reason on why we purchased and are putting up the television sets throughout the school, so that better communication will be occurring. Sarah Atkinson brought up the issue that SAC needs to have a link from the Fleming Portal to the SAC website. This question was answered by Kevin Crouter he stated that there is a link you just have to go under Student resources to find it. The question on what is going on during Orientation week was brought up in this meeting, Greg Jeffords responded to this inquiry. Orientation week has not yet been confirmed this week will be discussed over the summer. SAC does have a big involvement in this week.
